Christmas sights and sounds

Takashimaya

The last week of December is usually my favorite time of the year. It is the holiday season and generally involves having friends over, catching up with relatives, getting invited to parties, ridiculous overeating, shopping and taking in the glorious Christmas sights.

Singapore is beautiful during Christmas. Although it is sad that we can never have a white Christmas, the perpetually "green" Christmas makes it possible for us to go out wherever and whenever we want without any of the hassles associated with winter 😄

Although a greater percentage of the population comprises of practicing Buddhists, there is a large Christian community here. Not to mention, Christmas is one festival that is almost universally celebrated irrespective of the faith a person belongs to.

Preparations for Christmas begins well in advance and by the time the 25th arrives you can see colorful Christmas trees and festive decorations all over the place. Orchard road especially is beautiful, even more so at night. The whole atmosphere is filled with such positive buzzing energy. You can see throngs of people bustling around with their Christmas shopping, cheery store attendants announcing Christmas sales, kids and grown ups alike in their cute Santa hats, families dining together and many more happy sights.

Here are some photos that I took in Singapore this Christmas...
